The Election Collection

Art is Magic • Ritual is Power • This Election is Everything  • This is Our Opportunity to Make It So

The Election Collection is a blend of the ordinary and extraordinary, where mixed media meets mixed use in a limited edition collection that explores everyday objects as maximalist artworks, actively merging the decorative with the declarative.

Five election-affirming artworks have been created and curated as eclectibles made for ritual and magic making to actively and energetically impact the 2024 elections.

25% of proceeds will go to Lotus for POTUS

AMY CRITCHETT : Artist Statement

Why :

Because I have to.

Untethered by technique or training I express my questions, concerns, observations and optimism about the state of the world and human condition through my work.

The chaos and integrity of Nature’s design inspires my gravitation towards the seductive audaciousness of the ornate.

Nature creates strength and sustainability which  humans emulate for satisfaction.

Nature is efficient, meaningful and persistent. Human nature is extravagant, illogical and sudden.

To me this is as fascinating as it is terrifying.

What :

Abstract artworks that are explosions and expressions of what I find to be beautiful.

Through an excess of color, layers, borrowed images, textures and phrases I work through my personal inquiry and opinions.

I find ordinary objects as curious substrates and am interested in juxtaposing chaos and commentary in extraordinary ways.

A welcome mat

A blanket

A jacket

A tile

A scarf

A wall of site specific wallpaper

A book

A moment

All perfectly imperfect.

How :

I paint or pen, pixilate and print.

The painting is rarely, if ever, the final piece.  The patterns that emerge from digitizing and repetition take on a life of their own and create a matrix of intricate complexity that I find beautiful.

Abstract

Bold and Imperfect

Questioning and Optimistic
